The iF Design Award is widely regarded as one of the most important global seals of design excellence. In 2022, nearly 11,000 entries from 57 countries were submitted, making the competition especially intense.

Designed to Stand Apart in the Smoke Detector Market
During the design process, we analyzed the existing smoke detector market and identified two common design directions.
On one side, many products adopt a highly technical and gadget-like appearance to signal smart functionality. On the other side, lower-cost products often place limited emphasis on details, materials, and perceived quality.
muuun was designed to offer a third path: a smart smoke and carbon monoxide detector with a more human-centered and interior-friendly appearance. The goal was to create a device that feels natural in the home while still delivering a strong sense of innovation and trust.
Minimalist Design with Meaningful Details
A core part of the muuun design philosophy was to give the product a minimal presence in the home. The detector does not demand unnecessary attention, yet remains highly visible and intuitive when user interaction is needed.
To achieve this minimalist expression, special attention was given to every detail, including:
- surface textures

- grid patterns
- tactile quality
- user interaction experience
